With a career spanning almost 3 decades and experience transforming brands and businesses across 5 continents, Andrew Begg is one of the industry’s most accomplished brand transformation specialists. Having worked his way up through the world’s preeminent branding, advertising and design agencies, Andrew has skills in a breadth of disciplines. A designer by trade, he has spent 25 years cultivating his strategic, creative and digital skillset. Now, with a client portfolio boasting some 300 brand transformations, it comes as no surprise that Andrew is a specialist in an extensive number of industries. With a wealth of experience in retail, automotive & property, he truly has a unique strength of dexterity in the world of branding.

Andrew’s approach is simple. A natural perfectionist, he has an ability to see beyond the brand identity to more holistic, ‘bigger picture’ thinking. His method of branding involves the fusion of cultural & digital trends, customer insights and creative differentiation. What makes his work exceptional is his ability to predict future trends and break category norms. Andrew is a leader not a follower and the brands he has transformed are direct examples of his tenacious efforts to prepare businesses for the future.

Andrew understands the immediate and long-term problems and opportunities businesses face today. In 2000, he created Traffic, which specialises in brand and retail transformation. In the first few months of operation, Traffic won, Raine & Horne & Goodyear Dunlop Australia and since then has worked with over 200 brands including some of the world’s largest companies. His personal experience with high-level business strategy means he understands the role branding plays in achieving tangible business objectives. Return on investment is paramount to the Traffic offering.

Andrew continues to own 100% of Traffic 17 years after it inception. The business has a turnover of $7+ million and billings excess of $25+ million.

Jeremy King is an experienced agency hand who has worked in many of Australia’s leading agencies including Ogilvy, Publicis Mojo, CHE and GPY&R, on a number of iconic global and local brands such as Cadbury, Schweppes, Village Roadshow, Tourism Victoria, Nine Network, Austereo, Cricket Australia, Hard Yakka and Yellow Pages.

Jeremy has also spent two years working at one of Australia’s leading research/ brand strategy consultancies (The Lab) across a diverse range of clients such as Pacific Brands, the MMM Network, Don Smallgoods, Metricon and Betfair.

Samantha Moore (Begg) joined Traffic in 2004 after a stellar career with Clemenger Melbourne and Sydney, where she was one of Australia’s most highly awarded creatives for work on Lion Nathan, Smiths Snackfood Company, Rice Growers Australia, Uncle Toby’s and many more iconic Australian brands. Throughout her career she has demonstrated an ability to create outstanding creative work that delivers exceptional results, with international awards for both creative and effectiveness including a sought after Silver Lion (Cannes) and a Best of Show (AFA Effectiveness). With the objective of creating a family business with Andrew and Austin, Sam’s skills contributed substantially to winning Traffic’s foundation clients Raine&Horne, TONI&GUY, Goodyear and Beaurepaires.

Since inception, Sam has run Traffic’s Sydney office and is instrumental in all day to day client running, strategy and creative across FMCG, financial, insurance, not for profit and online/offline retailers. Sam also offers vast experience and expertise in property marketing, including branding and marketing for leading developers including Lend Lease, Macquarie Group, Medallist Developments, McGrath Special Projects and many more. Sam remains a passionate writer and is still involved in day to day writing for all clients.

Austin Begg - Chairman

In 2003 Austin was called ‘Industry stalwart’ by the Australian Financial Review following a marketing career spanning more than 50 years. He was appointed Advertising Manager, Bowater Scott in 1962 then moved to Melbourne Manager TCN9 in 1970.

Austin was the the founder of Y&R Melbourne office in 1972. He started Begg Dow Priday in 1975 where he created many of Australia’s most successful brands including Sorbent, Bob Jane T-Marts, SPC Baked Beans & Spaghetti, Monbulk Jam & BRW magazine.

Austin’s reputation has been built on successfully creating and transforming companies and brands to increase client sales and ROI. He joined Traffic in 2003 the same year he created a royalty concept for Cancer Council Aust which has now raised over $4m.

Matt Smith - Digital Director

Digital Director

Prior to beginning work at Traffic as our Digital Director, Matt worked at digital agencies in both London and Toronto. Matt then returned to Australia with great international experience to run his own digital agency for over ten years in Melbourne.

Solving digital challenges and crafting meaningful connections with customers and brands lies at the core of every project he directs, be it web, mobile, social media or eCommerce. Matt has worked with a range of clients including Carlisle Homes, the Australian National Maritime Museum, Melbourne Airport, Metricon and many more, all with the brands essence at the forefront of all digital executions.

Since joining Traffic Matt has been the thought leader, strategist and implementer of all Traffic client digital projects.

Our Senior Account Director, Karen, is another mixed breed! With over 10 years experience in marketing, design and print, Karen has worked both client and agency side, including brand transformations, product and packaging development, e-commerce websites, ATL retail campaigns and everything in between. At Traffic, Karen oversees some of our property clients including. Having built her first dream home and with eyes on the next, Karen’s love of property is both professional and personal.
