Account Director – Melbourne

As Account Director at Traffic Melbourne your primary responsibility is being a key agency contact across a range of clients, primarily in the Property and Retail categories, as well as a range of other clients in the broader brand space.

The Role
General Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the effectiveness of campaigns against client and agency KPI’s
  • Develop strong client / agency relationships
  • Presenting agency work and ideas in a clear, persuasive way
  • Ensure team members are aware of, and adhere to Traffic’s procedures and best practice
  • Contribute towards managing the resources within the team
  • Assisting with the recruitment of new people as appropriate
  • Key involvement in the agency revenue forecast, with accountability for the specific clients that you are the lead on.
  • Proactively look for ways to improve the agency’s processes and efficiencies and help launch any agreed changes to the wider team.
  • Working closely with the Traffic management team to build a dynamic and profitable organisation that consistently exceeds client expectations.

Specifically, you will:

  • Have overall responsibility for servicing of these clients, and ultimate accountability for the success of these clients.
  • Inspire the team working alongside you – Account Managers, Designers, Strategists, Copywriters, and specialists in Digital, Social and Search.
  • Drive the formulation of innovative marketing strategies, working with agency colleagues to devise campaigns that meet the client’s brief, budget and expectations
  • Actively drive client activity, and suggest strategic and tactical solutions to their objectives.
  • Meet and liaise with a range of clients and suppliers to discuss and identify their needs
  • Write insightful briefs (creative, media, PR, digital, social) and overseeing the team to ensure that work is trafficked through the studio to completion
  • Help present and sell the campaign recommendations to the client with equal measures of passion and pragmatism.
  • Be accountable for ensuring overall profitability, including accurate estimating and invoicing.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand the existing agency remit on your clients
  • Presenting creative work to clients for approval or feedback
  • Briefing both external partners (such as media, PR) and internal teams (eg creative and digital staff), to assist with your formulation of their marketing & communications strategies
  • Develop and monitor client budgets and manage campaign costs, advising invoice requirements to the finance department
  • Creating jobs and estimates in Workbook, with sufficient mark up, in line with the client contract and agency guidelines
  • Assisting to maintain revenue forecast regularly, ensuring clients are invoiced in a timely manner for estimated jobs and any extra costs incurred
  • Monitor hours spent on retainer projects and individual projects to ensure they are as per allocations
  • Managing daily workload on your clients through the creative & studio resource
  • Guide the internal and external teams to ensure that all campaigns are delivered on time and on budget.


Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a fast-paced agency (or similar environment) on relevant pieces of business in the Property and Retail categories.
  • A desire to be involved with outstanding work.
  • An understanding of standard agency process and procedures, and how to maximise efficiency
  • Experience in skilfully managing multiple clients and their needs and expectations, pushing the work through and always meeting deadlines
  • Amazing attention to detail
  • An understanding of all facets of production, including digital
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Resilience, team orientation, character and a sense of humour.
